Sharks & Rangers – A Pumpkin Recipe Round-up

This week I have a shark running around the house and a National Park Ranger chasing after him. That can mean one of two things…either the stress of planning this sabbatical has completely gotten to me, or it’s almost Halloween!

To say Mr. N and Miss A are excited would be an understatement. Halloween – one of the greatest holidays for kids (of all ages). The candy, the costumes, the parties, the candy, the pumpkins, the haunted houses, the scary movies, and did I mention the candy. This year we have a shark and a park ranger. Can you guess who is the shark? And who is the ranger? I’ll have pictures next week. Until then, here is a pumpkin and squash recipe round-up….

I love all things pumpkin and squash and so many of these recipes look amazing. The pumpkin samsa is definitely one we’ll try. Is the dough on the sweet or savory side? I only ask because I would need to find another dough recipe that doesn’t use egg (for allergy purposes). Em was a shark this year too!

Wouldn’t that be fun! You could make it a thing! 😉 I hope you enjoy the soups. They sound good to me too. And I can’t believe you have snow already! Fortunately we’re in a warm snap.

Halloween is my fave too, I just love dressing up the house (and me!) . This year I went a little wild with the tea light diodes, stuck them into those mini plastic pumpkins ( like the ones in your photo) into skulls, skeleton eyes and even made a fake cigarette look like it’s lit! Such fun.
I have had a spaghetti squash in the pantry for almost a month, loved your recipe a while back, will make it again for sure!

I’m looking forward to seeing Mr N and Miss A in their costumes. A shark costume is a great idea. My Alfie went as something freakish – he looked terrifying. And now our house is full of sweets! So many lovely pumpkin recipes – I think my favourite is the risotto – I cooked something very similar last week xx

Wow! I don’t know where to begin! I love pumpkin and have many of these ingredients, including a couple of beautiful cooking pumpkins, on hand right now. I think the pumpkin lentil curry sounds absolutely incredible, but so do all the other recipes. This is a treasure for those of us who love pumpkin, Kristy. And I do hope your title shark and ranger have the very best Halloween! Even we big kids get kind of excited about that extra candy. 🙂
