Perfect Timing

We were recently tagged by Mary at Inside a British Mum’s Kitchen with the 7 Link Challenge in which we have to link 7 of our posts to the 7 challenges. This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I was hit with a stomach bug this weekend which left me pretty much useless. Fortunately Mike stepped in for me with the kids and gave me lots of time for some R and R. I love that guy! So Mary’s tag gives me a good excuse to not have to think about food too much, because I’m still not ready to think about food. Maybe tomorrow.

So here goes…The most beautiful post:
Sunday Roast Beef (Britain)

The most controversial post:
Is it dinner or dessert?

The most helpful:
Mr. N is all about the safety.

The most surprisingly successful:
I’m always surprised by the number of hits our banana bread quest generates each time.

The post that didn’t get the attention it deserved:
Sausage Rolls and Curried Kumara from New Zealand – this stuff was gooooood!

The post we’re most proud of:
My grandma’s blackberry cobbler – I’m proud that I’ve finally learned how to pull it off.

And lastly, our most popular post:
This one generates the most hits – and oddly it’s one I’ll never make again.

So just because…here’s the next most popular – it is one I will make again. And again.
Yummy apple cheddar sandwich.

Thanks again to Mary for the tag – and for passing it along at the perfect time. As for the challenge itself, the rules are that you have to pass this along to five other blogs, but I’m going to change that up a bit. I’m going to say if you read this and feel like carrying it on go for it! And if you don’t…don’t. 🙂 Now I’m off to bed in hopes that food will sound appealing to me again tomorrow.

So sorry you were sick. Sounds like you have some great help there though. Love seeing your choices. Such a great idea. I have been tagged myself but I am waiting awhile to do it. Too many other things going on right now.

Thanks Kim! I had awesome helpers. Don’t know what I would have done without them. 🙂 And I think I’m finally on the mend. Phew! Have fun doing your 7 links. It was fun to flashback. I had forgotten some of these recipes myself!

I’m sorry you came down with the stomach flu. My husband and I got it on Christmas eve and all day on Christmas this past year, not fun at all. I know what you mean about not wanting to be around food.
congrats on the 7 linky thing but don’t worry about passsing it along in your condition. I just love all the recipes you posted, the sausage roll and the cake is what’s really calling me. I’m looking forward to trying some of these reicpes, if I had time I’d try them all!
Take care and get well soon!

Thanks Lisa. Oh – you had this on Christmas!!! That’s just awful. I’m just fortunate it happened before the kids started school and while hubs is still on vacation. I can’t imagine this hitting me when I actually have more to do. Ugh. I think it’s all behind me. I took it relatively easy today and so far so good. I’m even craving dessert again, so I think I’m on the mend. 🙂

Oh my God – the sausage rolls really didn’t get the attention they deserved and I’m very glad you used this post to bring them up again. They look fantastic! I just love sausage rolls – I think I’m obliged to, being a Brit, but I’m looking forward to giving these ones a shot sometime!

Thanks Charles! These were super easy and not too bad at all. They were the first time we ever ate sausage rolls. I think Miss A was the only one that didn’t like them. 🙂

Mr. N is such a hoot. He takes this stuff so seriously. I just love that little guy. He’s so darn thoughtful and creative. I enjoyed re-reading that one again too. 🙂

It’s so neat reading these 7 link challenges because it gives you a glimpse inside the blogger’s mind which is informative and fun. I’m intrigued by the idea that the post that generates the most hits is the one you’ll never make again…?! Stomach flu is no fun and lack of appetite even less fun for a foodie 🙂 I was unable to tolerate the smell, sight or ingestion of food for 4 months during my first pregnancy (talk about depressing) but happily went on to deliver a healthy, hearty, 10 pound petunia! Hope you feel better soon…!

Oh I can relate! I was the same way with Mr. N’s pregnancy. The first trimester was terrible. The only thing I could eat was chicken nuggets and crackers. Everything else made me so sick! And normally I can’t stand chicken nuggets. Go figure. 🙂 Fortunately smell isn’t bothering me this time. I just don’t have much appetite; although I think it’s starting to come back. Here’s hoping!

You know the post that receives the most hits…I think it’s because of the swing set and not the cake. LOL!

Isn’t it funny…it seems like it’s never what you expect will generate the most interest. Thanks for the well wishes. I’m getting there! Ate a bowl of cheerios today! Yay!

It’s a fun way to go back through your old posts. It made for good date night (after kids were asleep) conversation for hubby and I. As for the cake…I had higher hopes for it. I think it was just a bit too much molasses for me. I think if I cut it with a few more spices it would be a bit more to my liking. I love molasses/spice cookies at the holidays, but this one was just a bit too intense. It was one of those that the first bite was good, but then the more bites I took it just built on the last and became too much. And yes that sandwich….YUM!

You were right, it was a good time to get tagged! They do take some time to pull together, but I love reading your picks and some I had not seen so it brings them back to the current! I had forgotten that sandwich! I did make it after you posted and it was really awesome!!!

The timing couldn’t have been better. I’ve never had a stomach flu before – and I hope I never have one again. And wouldn’t you and I be a pair this weekend! I hope you feel better soon too. 🙂 If we lived closer, I’d send Mr. N over to whip you up something to eat. 😉 And so glad you enjoyed the sandwich! It is yummy.

I hope you feel better soon – I like your idea on not passing that along. I hate those chain mails I get in email that I feel compelled to pass on, but almost never do. Although funny, today I received one for a “Flash Mom” – you invite 5 people to a place (and have them bring a drink/snack) then send it on to 5 more moms. I had to participate…but that was my first one in a while! I’m sure it will be fun!

Thanks Dawn! I feel so much better already. Still not ready to eat much, but the worst of it has past. Thank goodness!!! I love your flash mom thing. That sounds fun! Enjoy it. And yeah, I don’t want to make anyone feel obligated to do this that doesn’t want to, but for those that do, I hope they have fun with it. Have a great week!

Definitely not fun – this is the first time I’ve ever had it. Yuck! Fortunately everyone else seems to still be healthy. I stayed pretty clear of everyone and even bleached the house down yesterday. Didn’t want to chance passing this one on. The 7 links was fun – I enjoyed reading yours as well. 🙂

I don’t blame you.. with some of the tags I feel the same way. You can’t make anyone do anything.. but if you want too why not. And I’m really sorry you got hit with a stomach bug, I will be wishing you get better soon. I’m sure ChefDad, and the kids will take good care of you :). Get better soon and don’t blog until you’re well.. We need you at 100% 🙂

Yep…I don’t want anyone to feel obligated that doesn’t want to do it, but it is a fun one that others might enjoy doing. 🙂 I know we had fun flashing back through all of our posts. Made for good date night conversation with the hubs too. 🙂 Thanks for the well wishes. I’m not quite 100 percent yet, but oh so much better than I was! (And you guessed it – Mike and the kids have been GREAT!)
