Not to be Outdone by Her Brother – Giveaway

A few months ago Mr. N hosted our first giveaway, so not to be outdone by her brother, Miss A requested a turn to do a “prize.” And she is in the driver’s seat after all.

We found this giveaway at a winery and just couldn’t resist. It screams summer and fun!

Isn’t it a happy little set?

Miss A is particularly taken with these little guys.

And I’m a fan of the happy bubbles.

These little guys will be the perfect summertime, backyard bbq accompaniments. Miss A will take care of our random drawing this time and you can earn up to three entries:

1. Leave a comment suggesting the next country we should cook from on our adventures.

2. Click on the Babble link on the side of the page and vote for us. Make sure to leave a comment that you did. If you already have, just let us know that. 🙂

3. And if you’re subscribed to the blog, we thank you and you’re automatically entered. If you’re not, feel free to subscribe and earn a bonus entry.

Have fun and good luck. We’ll do the drawing on Sunday, July 24th. Entries will end at 5 p.m. EST that evening. This “prize” is not sponsored by anyone other than ourselves. We just saw these and thought they were too cute not to share. Thanks for reading and for all the comment love. We’re having a lot of fun with this and happy to have met as many of you as we have along the way. Cheers and have a great weekend!

I’m behind on reading posts and writing posts! Crazy few weeks with company in town. Sorry I missed the giveaway, but I love Italian food and not sure if you’ve done Thai food.

What an adorable set! Love the photo of Miss A in the driver’s seat. It suits her pretty well. 🙂 I’m thinking Italy, like a few others. One of my favorite cuisines!

Good morning Miss A, you look very comfortable in the driver’s seat – just voted for you on babble (actually, I tried voting for you numerous times but apparently that’s not allowed 🙂 GOOD luck to you and the whole family, you deserve it! As for the next culinary destination, I vote for… Korea – so many gorgeous foods and flavours (but, hard to go wrong with any country – I’d be thrilled with your choice no matter).

My vote is for Italy or Mexico (if you haven’t done them yet), otherwise Spain. I voted for you guys on the mom blog site last week so does that count? 😉 Give me a call or shoot me an email if you guys want to get together next week!

Please go to India and teach me how to make butter chicken. (Not sure what the authentic name is, but if you go to India, I will find out!) Oh, and not to ask too much, but can you make it delicious and maybe a little healthier than the name suggests?

I have often wondered if Butter Chicken ((or murgh makhani) was developed as a way to deal with leftover Tandoori Chicken since you have to marinate chicken in yogurt and other spices used to prepare chicken for the tandoor and cook it before it’s used in the dish. 🙂 I may be wrong but I always make double the amount Tandoori chicken and use the boned meat to make Butter Chicken.

As to the gravy or sauce that it’s served in, the butter and cream may be substituted with more yogurt, but, really what’s the point. Just consider it a special treat and go for it. 🙂

I’ve never heard of butter chicken. Hmmm….sounds good if it’s from leftover tandoori. That I know we like. 🙂 And yep – we’ll do what we can to make it a little healthier (especially after this last week! Whew!)

How cute is Miss A in the drivers seat! Good luck to all your entrants – being all the way in South Africa is a bit far to post off to. Hmm now, what about somewhere different like Vietnam?
    Have a happy weekend.

The cheese knives are so cute! How much fun that would be for a outdoor party this summer or fall even. I am with Greg- I think Italy but that is only because I love Italian food and I want new recipes to cook from! LOL!

How cute and clever Ms. A in the driver’s seat!! I had never heard of this babble site and hands down, I vote for you and your entire family!! Maybe I’ve missed it as it would seem very obvious, but Italy is my vote for obvious reasons, possibly Sicily, that little island I hope to visit one day!!

    Dear Miss A,
I think the next logical step for you is Asia. More specifically China or Vietnam. I recommend China because besides having a ton of different ethnicities and areas of the country from which to draw pretty much any kind of cuisine. Plus, I lived there for almost 4 full years so I can give you plenty of GREAT recipes.
I recommend Vietnam because I spent a month there in college doing volunteer work teaching English and that is where my love of Asia began. Two things that are worth choosing Vietnam for would be pho (pronounced “fuh”) which is honestly the best noodle soup I’ve ever had in my entire life. Their spring rolls are also incredibly delicious. They’re not the fried versions you get in Chinese restaurants but rather made of chewy opaque rice paper and filled with fresh herbs and veggies, noodles and meats. Vietnamese food is, in my opinion, the healthiest food in Asia. Your mom and dad would enjoy some Vietnamese iced coffee (always impressive to know how to make and the actual Vietnamese brewers are super cheap to buy) and you and Mr. N would love nuoc chanh, which is a Vietnamese limeade.
I have both Chinese and Vietnamese cookbooks with real authentic recipes if you need any help choosing. If you choose Chinese food be ready….I have a lot to say after living there for 4 years and I would rather live in China and eat Chinese food for the rest of my life than be anywhere else. YUM!

    Enjoy your weekend Miss A!

These SUMMER rolls are one of my favourite quick hot weather meals. I even grew Thai basil so I could add it to the rolls though the basil was a LOT more potent than the stuff I picked up at the Chinese grocery store. 🙂

Loving the cheese knives – super cute! I voted for you (although as a man I must point that that a “Moms only” food blog collection is sexist as all anything – not that that’s your fault – I just feel like the food blogging community really gears itself around women on the web, and while this is probably because the vast majority of food bloggers *are* women, the XY chromosomed folk amongst you can also brew up something in the kitchen too! 😦 )

Anyway, good luck, and you managed to capture a pic of “my” little car too (the Toyota in the background of your first pic here is the same as mine :D)

ah, d’oh – I completely forgot to mention a country. You know, I’d say two places –

Firstly, Japan. They have a whole treasure trove of awesome delicious stuff – tempura, ramen, sukiyaki, okonomiyaki to name just a few delicious examples.

Alternatively you could really go crazy and opt for a complete “unknown” country, like Tajikistan. I was looking at “obscure” countries cuisine on Wikipedia the other day and I’ve got to say that some of it looks absolutely delicious. Either that, or go for African… particularly mid-African cuisine. It’s one of the continents which is severely under-represented in restaurants around the developed world. I went to a Senegalese restaurant recently and it was amazing!
