The ocean is evocative. The water extending to a vast horizon, endless waves rolling in and drawing out, and the subtle movements of the tide revealing its dramatic secrets. The continuous crash of the waves drowning out all other sound, the smell of salt in the crisp air, and the tickle of the foam as it fills the spaces between your toes. As the ocean captivates each of our senses, it also begins to seep deeper and deeper, until it envelopes our entire pysche. Such was our experience on both the southern and northern coasts of Spain.
Spain, as you know by now, has left a permanent impression deep in our souls. From Madrid and Sevilla, to Cordoba, Arcos, Jerez, Granada, Segovia, Rioja and the coasts, it spun its magical web, craddling us in its passion, warmth, joy, mysticism and bewitching contradictions. It always presented us with exactly what we needed, exactly as we needed it.
As for the Costa del Sol, it infused us with energy, wonder, and joy as we looked out over its calm, steady waters to a distant Africa along the horizon. We’ll let the pictures tell the rest of this tale, beginning with the dramatic vistas of Nerja from the Balcón de Europa.
And ending with the sunset and sunrise on the tranquil, off-season beaches of stunning Marbella.
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” — Jacques Cousteau
So too does Spain.
Your Pictures are so beautiful! 😀

So glad that you guys managed a trip to the Costa del Sol. Isn’t it wonderful? I spent about a week in Torremolinos and thoroughly enjoyed it. While there, Marbella was a day trip and we visited Gibraltar on our exit from the area. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

I’ve been to the Costa del Sol twice but unfortunately the weather was grey both times so I enjoyed seeing it through your photos…lovely.
