Miss A’s Dream Come True

It’s time for the birthday girl’s dessert and you’ll never guess what we found. Remember that Miss A requested (well, okay rather demanded) cookies for her birthday? Well when I pressed her on what kind of cookies she wanted she said, “balsamic cookies.” Mr. N thought she was out of her mind and was horrified at the thought, but Miss A kept insisting on balsamic cookies. So I did a search, and do you know what I found? Not just balsamic cookies, but Chocolate Balsamic Cookies! I thought Miss A was going to fall off her chair she was so excited – chocolate and balsamic and a cookie!

She most definitely was on hand to help (and sample) this recipe! First we sifted together the flour, salt and baking soda.

Next we mixed the cocoa and the sugars.

Miss A whisked our egg – and rather adeptly. I was impressed. I guess she is three now!

And of course she also had to add the balsamic.

Everything is then all mixed in the same bowl – the flour mixture, cocoa mixture, balsamic, yogurt, egg, vanilla and melted butter.

We then beat it together to form a creamy batter.

And finally we scooped little spoonfuls on the baking sheet.

Bake the cookies for 7-11 minutes – depending on how you like your cookies done. We prefer ours a bit gooey, so we baked for 7 minutes on convect bake. And how did Miss A like them?

Actually this is “Dora” with her “rescue pack” and these cookies passed her taste test!

Mr. N also tried one and was so surprised. He didn’t think these would be good at all, but when I asked him what he thought he said, “4 plus 4 plus 2 spoons!”

Dad also enjoyed them. He describes them as a chocolate lover’s chocolate. I of course took a pass…I just can’t do chocolate. Miss A doesn’t mind though – it just leaves more for her.

Your little Miss A is so adorable! Those blonde curls and that little smile, too cute! And she really knows what she wants! Wow, I’m impressed you found a recipe for her. I imagine the balsamic would enhance the flavoring. I may really try this out!!

It’s amazing what you can find on the internet! She was so excited Linda. You should have seen her face when I told her. It was too precious. I love when the kids are little and their lives are so safe and simple. It’s the smallest things that can just make their day. It’s that youthful innocence. Love it!

I’m impressed to – and shocked. Sometimes she’s so picky over absolutely “normal” kid foods. And then she goes and requests balsamic! She’s a free spirit! 🙂

What a great find! She looks thrilled beyond thrilled. Not to get all sappy, but this is the stuff they remember. My mom used to cook us whatever we wanted for our birthdays and I like to do that for Katherine. She does it for me, but it’s always a variation of a good steak. That’s what I want on my birthday!

Thanks Greg. 🙂 My mom used to do (and still does) the same thing for us. In the past few years my dad has even gotten in on the game and makes me a birthday cake. And nothing wrong with a good steak on your birthday! I think I’m due for one of those one of these days too. It’s been a while. 🙂

Thanks Lynne! Oh I’ve had lots of those experiments gone bad too. 😉 Surprisingly the balsamic doesn’t come through in this recipe at all. It tastes purely like chocolate. 🙂

Thanks Kelly! We like to pull the celebration plate out for special meals. She had a fabulous day. She is repeatedly reminding us that she’s all grown-up now because she’s 3, so she can do anything all by herself. LOL.

Yummy! Did the balsamic vinegar come through in the final product – as in, could you taste it? The cookies look fabulous in any case! What’s with Miss A’s balsamic obsession anyway? How did that all start?

The balsamic doesn’t come out really at all. It mostly enhances the flavor of the chocolate and acts as a rising agent with the baking soda. (I read that on another blog. LOL) Miss A’s obsession with balsamic all started with a simple little appetizer that I’m going to share next. 😉

I’d have to agree with Lisa, Miss A is too cute for words. You guys are going to make me have kids but first I have to find a husband lol. What a great birthday dessert and of course you get 11 stars for finding this Kristy ;). I love chocolate so you know this is going in my “I have to try” files.

Miss A is so adorable! Well I’m happy she got what she wanted for her birhday! Watch out Rachel Ray here comes Miss A! She’s already got a taste for some real good food. I can see her having her own cooking show!

I want to try this recipe, I love balsamic and cookies but never thought in the same recipe. Though, i bet a balsamic glaze probably would taste good drizzled on top of the berries and cookeis! Yum, now I’m hungry for sweets!
